Exhibition & Auction

Award winning photographer Shane McCarthy will open his exhibition of photos. Shane visited India and the various Educo projects over Easter 2009 and took 11,000 photos.

The best 55 of these photos will be on exhibition at the Moravian Church (between Lwr Kevin St and Bishop St, Dublin 8).  15 of these will be auctioned on Friday, July 3rd.

EDUCO ILLUSTRATED - A PORTRAIT OF INDIA
Shoeless children giggling shyly against a wall. A child labourer transporting bricks on his head.  Two little girls walking through the Mumbai slums to school.  These are just some of the images from Educo Illustrated - A Portrait of India, a new photographic exhibition capturing the work of Educo.  The exhibition opens to the public on Saturday 4th July, running until Friday 10th July.

Shot by Dublin-based portrait photographer Shane McCarthy - who has photographed the likes of Bono, Cate Blanchett and Brian O'Driscoll in his time - the exhibition is the result of a ten day tour of India that saw the photographer bedding down in slums, eating dahl with locals, and visiting key Educo projects.

As part of our fundraising efforts, Educo will be entering a team of brave souls in the Flora Women's Mini-Marathon on Bank Holiday Monday, 15th June 2009.  If you fancy running, walking or crawling the 10k route, and raising much appreciated funds for our projects, we would be delighted to include you as part of Educo's team. Please email grattan@educo.ie to register your interest and we will contact you when it's time to sign up for the Mini-Marathon.

The Dangerous Liaisons Ball Ashford 14, 15th November 2008: This is an ‘invitation only’ weekend event held annually, usually in November, in one of Ireland’s most elegant chateau-hotels.  It may seem like nothing more than great cuisine, excellent wines, dancing the night away, and making some wonderful new friends; but the more serious aspect is that it raises substantial funds in a very painless fashion for Educo.

La Dolce Vita - the Inaugural Summer Ball at the Shelbourne was a tremendous success with a sellout 300 guests raising €85,000 on the night! This means that the 2nd education centre in Calcutta can now proceed ahead of schedule. On behalf of the Educo events committee, we would like to thank everybody who attended and who contributed so generously. Well done!
